Rejuvenation (skin rejuvenation)

Ageing skin, wrinkles, scars

Rejuvenation (photorejuvenation) is a method for both the reduction and slowing of the skin's ageing process, and a way of improving its quality and appearance. Ageing skin loses its elasticity and firmness and fine wrinkles begin to form, which progressively deepen. These changes are caused by the declining effectiveness of the connecting tissue. The most common reasons for treating the skin by rejuvenation are facial wrinkles, skin coarsening, enlarged blood vessels, acne scars, irregular pigmentation, expanded pores, reduced skin tone and the prevention of skin ageing. Rejuvenation is a careful treatment of the skin with high-power nonablative lasers. These machines are equipped with dynamic cooling, which cools the skin, both protecting it and acting as an analgesic. Following irradiation of the skin with laser light warming of the connective layer takes place, starting the generation of collagen and elastic fibres. The skin is smoother and tauter, its surface texture improves, minor vessels are reduced, as are skin roughness, expanded pores and minor wrinkles.

This is a non-invasive procedure which does not interfere with a client's daily routine. It lasts about 20 minutes. After the procedure the skin is slightly inflamed and should be protected from UV radiation. The treatment is usually almost painless or can be conducted with the use of a desensitising cream. The treatment is repeated 3 to 4 times in a month, and once per year.

Rejuvenation can be done with various types of lasers. The one to be used will be selected by a trained specialist based on skin condition.

In our centre we use for rejuvenation a pulse dye laser (Vbeam, Candela, USA), a diode laser (Smoothbeam, Candela, USA) and an alexandrite laser (GentleLase, Candela, USA). Using these methods we most often achieve improved skin quality for the face, neck, chest and backs of the hands.
