Removal of wrinkles (using botox)

Wrinkles, facial asymmetry

Facial wrinkles, as well as wrinkles on the neck and chest can now be treated with botox. This is a very simple, effective and elegant method which consists of weakening the muscles which contribute to the formation of facial wrinkles.

This method for improving facial wrinkles is increasingly popular with patients. Particularly because of its simplicity, avoiding the need to take time off work, minimal healing time, the progressive nature of the benefit and the minimal risk of side effects.

Botox Type A is used for therapeutic purposes. This was first manufactured in 1979 and was approved as a safe product by the FDA in 1989. The first studies on the impact on facial wrinkles was published in 1991.

The occurrence of wrinkles is determined genetically, by senile skin atrophy and pre-senile atrophy caused by the chronic effect of UV radiation, gravity, lifestyle and the action of the facial muscles. Facial wrinkles can appear at an earlier age, and in this case botox is applied as a preventative measure, so that the wrinkles do not deepen. Botox is most often applied to the wrinkles at the base of the nose, on the forehead and around the eyes. In these locations the procedure is regarded as safe and cosmetically convenient. Botox is used less frequently to treat wrinkles in the area of the upper lip, on the neck and on the chest.

The procedure is very simple from the patient's point of view. The botox is applied using a fine insulin syringe and needle into the facial muscles at the location of the wrinkles we wish to smooth out.

The effect, i.e. smoothing out of the wrinkles, takes place progressively over 2 weeks. The normal effectiveness of the treatment is 4 to 6 months. After repeated applications the effect is extended, also as a result of reduced creasing of the skin.

When wrinkles are very deep and the skin shows other signs of ageing, it is good to combine various corrective dermatology methods. The treatment of facial wrinkles with botox is popular latterly with men as well as women.
