Under local anaesthetic the mark is cut out and the resulting incision is sewn up. All of this takes place under strictly sterile conditions, the healing time varies according to the location of the excision, usually from 7 to 14 days.
If needed, the excised mark, growth or cyst is sent away for special histological analysis.
