A.k.a. investigation of pigmentation marks
Dermatoscopy is the professional investigation of pigment marks and any changes to them. Preventative investigation of skin pigment changes is very important. The incidence of malignant skin melanoma is increasing enormously and for this reason examination is very important. There are many marks on the human body which do not represent any danger, but certain types of mark can signal possible danger and should be examined using a dermatoscope.
Dermatoscopy enables us to magnify a pigment mark manyfold, allowing us to make a better judgement on whether or not it is dangerous.
